Who We Are

Established in 2019 and based in San Francisco, Rajana Threads is the first Khmer- American owned ethical fashion brand that aims to promote traditional handwoven textiles through modern wear with the idea that you can wear your cultural threads anywhere!

We actively engage in ethical practices through sourcing and production. Our products are handmade from various reputable and award winning social enterprises in Cambodia. Your purchase directly supports a collaborative of women artisans.

Each piece is a conversation starter, bringing you a true taste of Cambodian contemporary wear that is stylish and fashion forward!

Why the name: Rajana encompasses themes of creativity, artistry, style, and design. We chose Rajana to describe our passion for our designs, our fabric choices, and our creative process from beginning to end.

Our mission: To showcase the eclectic beauty of authentic Khmer textiles through contemporary fashion while supporting a collaborative of women artisans in Cambodia. Normalize wearing our threads for any occasion or destination while also preserving our weaving heritage. Additionally, being a resource for the Khmer diaspora community to learn more about Khmer textiles and sustainable fashion.

Vision: Rajana Threads was created to provide women with simple, yet wearable everyday designs so they can wear their threads proudly wherever, whenever. And in the process, create awareness around Khmer fabric - a historically important component of Khmer culture. Our future vision is to open the first Khmer-owned boutique carrying ethically sourced designed pieces, curated Khmer-made products and provide a creative space for artists/designers- connecting the diaspora with the homeland. Let's start reimagining how we wear our threads!

Our Team

  • Ratha, Owner/Designer

Born in the Khao I Dang Refugee camp in Thailand, Ratha developed her burning desire to learn about all things Cambodian (or Khmer) from her mother who, among many things, loved to sew as a hobby.

At a very early age, her mother gave her the opportunity to design her very first Khmer outfit for Cambodian New Year. That meant sketching out her own design and choosing a fabric. Beyond excited, she recalls picking a purple colored pahmoong and providing her sketch to the seamstress- the rest was history.

  • Krystal, Website & Content Manager

Krystal is a writer, artist, and indie creator based in California. As a teenager, she often volunteered with Ratha and her other sisters at various cultural events across the Bay Area. This helped grow love and interest in her Khmer culture and identity, which she weaves into her work. Currently, she finds joy in making Khmer-inspired contemporary acrylic jewelry and merch.

Krystal lends her website and design skills to manage Rajana Threads' online presence.
